Tours and self-guided drives at Bryce Canyon

Bryce rewards a self-guided pace — the 18-mile rim road strings together Sunrise, Sunset, Inspiration, and Bryce Points, and a phone audio tour under $20 narrates the geology as you drive. For a car-free traveler based in Las Vegas, a full-day coach trip pairs Bryce with Zion in a single (long) day. The park's signature guided outings — ranger astronomy programs, full-moon hikes, and the rim horseback rides — are run by the Park Service and the in-park lodge, not online tour operators, so you'll find those on the permits page and through the lodge rather than below.

    Ranger Astronomy & Night-Sky Programs

    Visitor Center & rim viewpoints

    Price Free

Bryce sits at 8,000 to 9,000 feet with almost no light pollution, so the stars come out in a way few places match. Rangers run free night-sky programs through the warmer months — constellation talks and telescope viewing of planets, star clusters, and the Milky Way. Dates and meeting points shift week to week, so check the current schedule before you go. Bring a red flashlight and layers; the rim gets cold fast after dark.

    • Free ranger-led telescope viewing in season
    • Dark skies at 8,000+ ft — bring a red flashlight

    Full Moon Hikes

    Amphitheater rim trails

    Price Free

On the nights around each full moon, rangers lead a moonlit walk among the hoodoos with no flashlights needed — the bright moon lights the rim trail. Spots are limited and go by reservation through Recreation.gov: 15 tickets open 14 days ahead and 10 more open 5 days ahead, both at 10 a.m. Eastern, capped at six per reservation. The hike is free; Recreation.gov adds a $1 processing fee.

    • Reservation only — released in two phases on Recreation.gov
    • Ranger-led, no flashlight needed under the full moon

It strings together the overlooks most people drive Bryce for — Bryce Point, Natural Bridge, Agua Canyon, and the Rainbow and Yovimpa Point panoramas at the end. Allow two to three hours round trip with stops. It is free with park admission, and trailers are not allowed past Sunset Point in peak season.
