If you miss it, you're in Tusayan (1 mile south of the south gate) or Kanab (72 miles, useful if you're combining with Zion). Below the rim, Phantom Ranch is the only lodging option — it books through a separate Xanterra lottery and fills instantly.

The South Rim's paved Rim Trail (13 miles, multiple accessible overlooks) is the park's most accessible experience. The shuttle system is wheelchair-accessible. Below-the-rim trails are not accessible. Grand Canyon Village and Tusayan are the practical bases for visitors with mobility constraints; Bright Angel Lodge is the closest in-park property to the trailhead and the accessible overlooks.
