Camping in Yellowstone

Yellowstone's campgrounds are the in-park alternative to the lodges, and the reservable ones — Indian Creek, Lewis Lake, Mammoth, Slough Creek, Tower Fall among them — book through recreation.gov. They put you inside the park overnight, close to early-morning wildlife and the geyser basins, without a lodge's price or year-ahead horizon. Decide by which side of the park you want to wake up on: the northern range for Lamar's bison and wolves, the south for the lake and geysers.
